Yandex Go, an app that combines taxi booking, delivery and other services, suffered outages lasting several hours in Uzbekistan on Sunday morning.

Users trying to book taxis saw no prices and could not place orders, while the public transport section did not show bus movements. Drivers and delivery couriers also reported problems.

“Unfortunately, some services may currently be working with errors or be temporarily unavailable,” the press service of Yandex Uzbekistan said. “Our teams are working to restore everything as soon as possible.”

The company said its services run on distributed infrastructure, with tasks handled by servers in different countries, so a failure in one country can affect functions in another. It said user data in Uzbekistan is stored in a jurisdiction that, under the law, ensures adequate protection. Yandex Maps and Yandex Navigator were working normally.

Yandex Go was also disrupted in neighboring countries including Kazakhstan, Tengrinews.kz reported.

Earlier on Sunday, Yandex Cloud said a drone attack had damaged a Yandex data center in Vladimir, Russia. “The data center has completely stopped operating... The platform is operating in emergency mode,” it said.

A similar Yandex Go outage lasted more than an hour on Friday evening, Oct. 9, the day a drone struck a Yandex data center in Russia’s Kaluga province. Demand for other taxi services rose, companies told Gazeta.

Uzum Market, the largest marketplace in Uzbekistan, was disrupted after an attack on a Yandex data center in Ryazan overnight into Oct. 8. Service was restored on Oct. 10.
