Shavkat Mirziyoyev hosted Sergio Gor, the U.S. President’s Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs, to discuss developing the strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and the United States.
The talks focused on preparations for an upcoming visit to Uzbekistan by U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, a C5+1 ministerial meeting and the second meeting of the Uzbekistan-America Business and Investment Council.
The sides stressed the importance of making the upcoming events more substantive, developing new initiatives and carrying out joint projects in priority areas.
They also exchanged views on the schedule of international events to be attended by the leaders of the two countries.
The business council has grown in importance, the sides said, having quickly become an effective mechanism for expanding trade and economic ties, attracting investment and advancing joint business initiatives.
