Airports in Uzbekistan served 12,662,922 passengers in the first nine months of 2026, up 13% from a year earlier, the press service of Uzbekistan Airports said.

They handled 102,836 flights, 10% more than in January-September 2025. Of these, 71,625 were international and 31,211 were domestic. International passengers rose 13% to 10,361,150, while domestic passengers rose 15% to 2,301,772.

Tashkent International Airport served 8,489,320 passengers, up 16%, and 62,482 flights, up 7%. Among regional airports, Samarkand handled 1.11 million passengers, Urgench 724,400, Fergana 511,000 and Namangan 497,600.

Andijan posted the fastest growth, with traffic up 8.7-fold to 161,400 passengers. The company said the airport reopened on March 20, 2025 after reconstruction and was not fully operational in the comparison period. Traffic also rose 48% at Termez, 18% at Urgench and 17% at Nukus.

Passenger numbers fell 16% in Namangan, 22% in Karshi, 22% in Navoi and 1% in Bukhara. The company attributed the drops in Namangan and Karshi to route network changes, demand on some routes and airlines’ schedule changes because of the geopolitical situation.

Airports processed 84.8 thousand tonnes of cargo and mail, up 27%, with 78,867.9 tonnes at Tashkent. The company said flights, passenger traffic and cargo volumes kept growing despite the geopolitical situation and cuts to some flights.

The Transport Ministry has proposed a draft resolution to implement a unified national digital transport platform, Bir Yo'l (One Single Way), from January 1, 2028. It would combine plane, train, bus and city public transport services. A pilot is planned from July 1, 2027 on the Tashkent airport-Urgench airport-Khiva railway station route.
