Uzbekistan khokims (mayor or governor) may in the future be elected. Such a proposal was made by the President-elect Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President-elect of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the December 7 solemn meeting dedicated to the 24th anniversary of the Constitution, criticized public servants for failing to communicate with the people.

The observation mission of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization has recognized that Uzbekistan presidential election held on December 4 were open, free and democratic.
