The Museum of Olympic and Paralympic Glory in Tashkent hosted a formal farewell ceremony for the national athletic delegations departing for the 20th Asian Games and 5th Para Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
The Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov attended the event, wishing the athletes success and good fortune in their upcoming competitions. During the ceremony, Akbar Djuraev, a Tokyo 2020 weightlifting Olympic champion and Paris 2024 medalist, received the national flag on behalf of the Olympic team. Marjona Pardabaeva, a para-cycling world champion, was presented with the flag for the Paralympic delegation. Djuraev and Pardabaeva will serve as the official flag-bearers for their respective national teams.
The 20th Asian Games will run from September 19 to October 4 in Aichi-Nagoya. Competitors and official delegations from all 45 National Olympic Committees under the Olympic Council of Asia are expected to participate. The tournament will feature 468 medal events spanning 70 disciplines across 43 sports. Following the main event, the 5th Para Asian Games will take place in Aichi-Nagoya from October 18 to 24.
