Three logistics center projects worth a combined $900 million are underway in the Tashkent region, regional governor (hokim) Zoyir Mirzaev said in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel following a presentation to President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

According to him, the first facility is being built in the Angren and Akhangaran area and is set to become a major distribution center.

"This is a logistics hub that meets international standards. It involves $100 million in investment, and the developer has already been selected. The China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project is to be completed in 2 years. The logistics hub needs to be up and running before that railway opens. Right now, this is the most convenient opportunity for us," the hokim said.

The second logistics center is planned for the Yangiyul district. It is being built jointly with entrepreneurs from Kazakhstan on an area of about 150 hectares.

"The project is valued at $300 million. So far, $144 million has already come in. The task now is to see the project through to completion and speed up construction," Zoyir Mirzaev noted.

The third center will be built in the Kibray district, on the border with Kazakhstan, near the S. Nazhimov border checkpoint. A 20-hectare site has been chosen for the project. "It calls for $500 million in foreign investment," the regional head reported.

Mirzaev said the three logistics centers will create at least 7,000 jobs.

"Most importantly, there's one aspect we haven't paid attention to until now. The three logistics centers will create at least 7,000 jobs. The president has instructed that living, leisure, and service facilities be provided for the people who will work at these centers," he stated.

Zoyir Mirzaev added that a presidential decree will be adopted based on the outcome of the presentation.

"It needs to be adopted within a very short timeframe. As hokims, we've been tasked with taking the lead in speeding up this process and organizing the work," the Tashkent region governor said.

Earlier, at the presentation to the president, it was noted that Angren, along with the Yangiyul and Akhangaran districts of the Tashkent region, are planned to be developed as intermediate distribution centers for transit and foreign trade cargo.

As part of proposals for developing the transport and logistics system, plans were also discussed for building a major Category A logistics center in the Akhangaran district, expanding the railway station in the Yangiyul district, creating customs terminals and parking facilities, digitalizing the industry, and introducing a "one-stop" principle at the border.
