President Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a ceremony launching new investment projects and breaking ground on new construction during a visit to Andijan province, the presidential press service reported.
The ceremony covered 206 projects with a combined value of $9.4 billion. Of these, 98 projects worth $2.05 billion were formally launched, while construction began on another 108 projects worth $7.35 billion.
The projects span key sectors including energy, construction, textiles, machine building, education, tourism, logistics, pharmaceuticals and healthcare, and will be implemented across all 16 cities and districts of the province.
Among the initiatives getting underway are a cotton-textile cluster, an electricity storage and distribution system, furniture-making and leather-footwear industrial zones, production facilities for electric buses, solar panels and micro-hydropower equipment, as well as modern education and medical centers.
The new projects also include plans for modern residential complexes, international logistics and tourism centers, a hydroelectric power plant, a waste-to-energy plant, and manufacturing capacity for vehicles and freight railcars.
The projects are being carried out in partnership with companies from China, Turkiye, South Korea, the United States, Russia, Belarus, Germany, India, the United Arab Emirates and Tajikistan, alongside local investors.
Once completed, the projects are expected to create more than 45,000 new jobs, generate 60.6 trillion soums worth of output annually, and produce $533 million in export potential.
Officials from every city and district in the province, along with foreign partners and project organizers, took part in the ceremony via video link, briefing participants on the significance of the projects, their implementation timelines and launch schedules.
The president thanked the foreign partners and local entrepreneurs involved in carrying out the initiatives.
Mirziyoyev pressed a symbolic button to formally launch the 98 new projects and mark the start of construction on the 108 remaining facilities. He then held a discussion with investors and local officials.
