Foreign enterprise Uklon UB has been designated in Uzbekistan as a digital platform operator with a dominant position in the market for taxi aggregator services, the press service of the Committee for Competition Development and Consumer Protection said.
The designation covers intermediary services for ordering passenger transport and taxi services. To prevent abuse of its dominant position, the agency will implement an antimonopoly compliance system at the operator and monitor its activities, the statement said.
Companies with a dominant position are barred from more than 20 types of conduct that restrict competition or discriminate against users’ rights and interests. Violations carry a fine of 5% of turnover, along with administrative liability for officials.
The criteria for designation include revenue above 100,000 base calculation units (44 billion soums), more than 50,000 active end users per month or an average of at least 3,000 active business users per month, and a market share above 40% for a business entity or group of persons in a given market.
In October 2024, YandexGo UB, Yandex Eats and Express24 APP were designated as digital platform operators with a dominant market position.
