The Consul General of Uzbekistan in Novosibirsk Aslam Akbarov met with officials of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Altai Republic of Russia Saturday.
The meeting, dedicated to the ways for further advancing cooperation between the provinces of Uzbekistan and the Altai Republic in the field of livestock farming, was attended by Altai’s Minister of Agriculture Andrey Tsigulev, officials of the ministry, heads of large livestock enterprises and farms in the province.
The Minister Andrey Tsigulev stressed the importance of developing mutually beneficial cooperation with Uzbekistan, especially in the field of livestock farming, including breeding.
"Currently, there are 6 enterprises in the Altai Mountains that are entitled to export cattle. There are also more than 196 thousand heads of cattle in the republic. Given the growing need of Uzbekistan for meat products, we are ready to consider all requests from your country for supplies," he said.
He reported that due to the direct contacts, the export of cattle from this province, including to Uzbekistan, increased by almost 68% in 2024.
The heads of large livestock farms who spoke at the event voiced their interest in cooperation with Uzbek firms.
At the meeting, the parties pointed to the need to establish direct contacts between farmers of Uzbekistan and Altai, and ultimately eliminate the chain of intermediaries that affect the cost of cattle and small horned animals supplied to our country.
At the end of the meeting, the Uzbek officials suggested to form an operational working group consisting of the Minister of Agriculture of the Altai Republic and representatives of the Consulate General of the country.
