A number of major projects will be launched in 2026 as part of the technological modernization of the Uzbek industry and expansion of the added value chain. In particular, a new $2.7 billion metallurgical complex project with 300 thousand tons of copper cathodes manufacturing annual capacity will be launched at the Almalyk Mining and Metallurgical Plant.
$381 million plant with 370 thousand tons of phosphorus and 540 thousand tons complex fertilizers annual capacity will be launched at Samarkand Kimyo complex. Work on $200 million chemical plant project has begun in Kashkadarya province, which will manufacture 50 thousand tons of alkylbenzene products per year for household chemicals, polymers and synthetic fuels.
In general, in 2026, new projects worth $4.5 billion will be launched in the chemical industry, $3 billion in each of the mining and metallurgy, oil and gas, automotive, textile and building materials sectors, $2 billion in electrical engineering, and $800 million in pharmaceuticals.
Tour goal in 2026 is to bring total exports to $40 billion, and the share of finished and semi-finished products to 55%.
According to economic forecasts, next year the economy is expected to grow by 6.6 percent, bringing the gross domestic product to $167 billion. While, if labor productivity, energy efficiency, and cost of living are improved duly, this indicator can be further increased.
