Cybercrime has been named one of the most pressing problems in Uzbekistan, accounting for 42% of all crimes in the country year-to-date. the president Mirziyoyev said at the government meeting dedicated to preventing crimes in neighbourhoods and ensure the rule of law.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed the implementation of the April 30, 2025 Measures aimed at further strengthening activities to combat crimes committed using information technology Decree, which has outlined the tasks of preventing cybercrime, increasing the digital literacy of the public and ensuring financial security in payment systems.
The Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Akhadbek Khaidarov in an interview with the Uzbekistan 24 TV channel stressed that the growth of the digital economy and online banking opened new opportunities for cybercriminals.
"It is necessary to create a modern infrastructure, train staff from the Interior Ministry and the Prosecutor General's Office to combat cybercrime and provide them with all the necessary equipment," he noted.
The President gave directives to expand the training of personnel at the Academy of the Interior Ministry, gradually increase admission quotas, open new areas and develop dual training. He gave instructions to adapt educational programs to modern challenges and threats, strengthen the combat and psychological training of employees.
The Interior Minister Aziz Tashpulatov said that he would focus on the training of specialists capable of countering modern threats.
