Iconic actor and voiceover legend Yakub Akhmedov passed away at the age of 88, the Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre announced today.
Native of Namangan, Yakub Akhmedov graduated from the Ostrovsky Tashkent Theatre and Art Institute (now the State Institute of Arts and Culture of Uzbekistan) in 1959.
Since 1958, he had worked at the Khamza Uzbek Academic Drama Theatre (renamed to Uzbek National Academic Drama Theatre in 2001).
During his career, he cast in nearly forty roles (Furkat, Past Days, The Adventures of Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, Zumrad, Shaitanat - the Kingdom of Demons, Escape from Darkness, and others). He is credited for his over 500 voiceover roles, and also created the School of Acting theatre studio.
