Today on the sidelines of the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks with President of the Slovak Republic Peter Pellegrini.

The parties discussed the ways to further expand the strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and Slovakia.

They commended the positive trend in the bilateral exchanges at all levels, as well as the enhanced cooperation in key areas.

Political consultations and the first meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission took place this year, with business contacts intensified and tripled number of joint ventures.

They also mulled on the ways to boost bilateral trade and investments, as well as to expand industrial cooperation projects in key sectors.

The parties reached an agreement to increase exports from Uzbekistan of textiles, leather goods, fruits and vegetables, and other in-demand products, and from Slovakia – rubber, automotive components, pharmaceuticals, and other industrial goods. To this end, the parties decided to hold exhibitions of national products and open trading houses.

They also focused on the development of digitalization, with Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposing to work on the creation of a joint center for monitoring cybersecurity of banks and implementing introduction of advanced cargo tracking systems.

The sides confirmed for further increasing cooperation with Slovak businesses in the production of automotive components, finished dairy products, and other areas and reviewed the prospects for intensifying humanitarian and educational exchanges. Shavkat Mirziyoyev proposed to hold the first forum of rectors of the two countries in Bratislava in 2026, hold tourism exhibitions and mutual Tourism Days and also touched upon on organized labor migration of Uzbeks.
