President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has received an official invitation from the US President Donald Trump to join an international initiative to achieve peace in the Middle East and resolve conflicts, the president's spokesman Sherzod Asadov said.
The initiative is based on the Comprehensive Plan to End the Conflict in Gaza, announced on September 29, 2025, and endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803 of November 17, 2025.
"A key element of the initiative is the creation of a Board of Peace, a new international body designed to unite states willing to assume responsibility for building long-term peace, stability, and security," the invitation states.
Uzbekistan has been invited to join the Board of Peace as a founding member. Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent a letter to Donald Trump confirming he will join the Board meeting.
In his message, the President of Uzbekistan noted that this initiative was viewed as an important step in resolving long-standing conflicts in the Middle East and ensuring peace and stability in the vast region, the statement said.
The Board of Peace was initially conceived as an international body to govern the Gaza Strip as part of the peace plan brokered by Donald Trump in October 2025. However, according to American media, the Board of Peace has been given broader functions.
The Council's charter describes it as "an international organization that seeks to promote stability, restore sound and legitimate governance, and enduring peace in regions affected by or threatened by conflict." Its chairman will be the President of the United States.
More than 60 countries have received invitations to join the Board of Peace, including Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Hungary, Australia, Russia, and Middle Eastern states.
In Central Asia, Kazakhstan has also received an invitation. Tengrinews.kz reported that the country's President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, has already accepted it.
