On the night of June 15, police officers were attacked with a knife in the Eyvalak neighborhood of Okhangaron district in Tashkent province, with at least two officers sustaining injuries in the incident.
The source stated that patrol officers on duty spotted a group of intoxicated individuals and attempted to discipline them by issuing a fine. A dispute escalated on the scene, and one of the citizens attacked with a knife, injuring a local prevention inspector.
Other officers who arrived at the scene reportedly used their firearms in self-defense.
A 34-year-old male resident of the district is currently wanted as a suspect.
A criminal case has been launched regarding the incident under the articles 25 and 97 of the Criminal Code for attempted homicide.
So far, the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Interior Ministry have not issued an official statement on the matter.
