A delegation from Iraqi Kurdistan, consisting of more than 150 officials from government agencies and business leaders, has arrived in Tashkent. The visit was organized with the support of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kuwait.
The delegation includes the chiefs of the chambers of commerce and industry from Erbil, Sulaymaniyah, Kirkuk, Halabja, and Duhok, alongside Kurdistan Regional Government officials and executives from companies operating in agriculture, food processing, construction, textiles, jewelry, energy, trade, and services.
During the meetings, the two sides discussed expanding trade, investment, and industrial cooperation, launching joint investment projects, and strengthening business ties. The Kurdish representatives expressed a strong interest in attracting Uzbek companies to their market, stating their readiness to establish all the necessary conditions to facilitate this.
The negotiations centered on agriculture and food processing. In particular, the parties reviewed joint projects in livestock farming, poultry, food production, fruit and vegetable processing, and the implementation of modern agricultural technologies.
As part of the itinerary, delegation members toured a jewelry factory, a confectionery plant, and a manufacturing complex to inspect local production capabilities firsthand. They also discussed opportunities for exporting Uzbek-made goods to the Iraqi Kurdistan market.
A key highlight of the visit was an economic forum held between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Iraqi Kurdistan. Attended by more than 400 business leaders, the forum concluded with the signing of several memoranda of cooperation.
Moving forward, both sides agreed to expand the exchange of business delegations, actively participate in trade exhibitions, and continue collaborating on joint investment projects.
