During its latest session, the Legislative Chamber passed a bill aimed at intensifying the crackdown on IT-related crimes and forwarded it to the Senate.
The new bill has proposed that the Internal Ministry of Affairs to be designated as the competent state authority in this domain. The ministry will hold explicit powers to coordinate national cybersecurity policies, organize preventative measures, uncover offenses, and facilitate inter-agency cooperation.
The bill also tightens accountability for banks, payment organizations, payment system operators, and internet service providers. These entities will face additional obligations to detect suspicious transactions early, promptly report cyber threats to authorities, preserve digital evidence, and maintain robust information security.
Furthermore, the bill enhances legal mechanisms designed to detect and halt Ponzi schemes before they spread. It also prioritizes rapid public alerts regarding cyber threats, while fostering better cyber culture and digital hygiene skills across society.
