Footage had earlier circulated on social media showed a car with a dead dog tied to its rear. The Kashkadarya Province Police Department has issued a comment on the incident.
According to a report, on July 24, a resident of Quyi Yangi neighbourhood in Qamashi district, identified as D.T., was driving his Damas minivan along the section of the Qarshi–Shahrisabz highway passing through Quyi Yangi neighbourhood when he came across the body of a dead dog lying by the roadside.
He tied the carcass to the back of his car and dragged it away.
The driver and passengers of a Nexia-3 heading toward Qarshi, disturbed by D.T.'s actions, stopped the vehicle and confronted him to get to the bottom of what was happening.
In connection with the incident, a case has been filed against D.T. under Article 111 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility (Cruelty toward animals), and the materials have been forwarded to the Qamashi District Court for criminal proceedings.
