A 22-year-old delivery courier has died following a traffic accident involving a sedan in the capital's Yunusabad district, Tashkent law enforcement officials confirmed.

The collision occurred on August 11, 2025, when a Lacetti passenger car driven by a 23-year-old man struck an electric delivery scooter operated by a 22-year-old. The scooter driver sustained critical injuries and was rushed to the intensive care unit at the Republican Scientific Center for Emergency Medical Care.

Despite emergency surgery and continuous medical intervention, the victim never regained consciousness and succumbed to his injuries on August 15, 2025.

According to the victim's father, the young man had relocated to Tashkent a few months prior in search of employment. After initially working as a day laborer, he had recently secured a job as a courier within the city's expanding gig economy.

The Investigation Department under the Tashkent City Police Department has opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 266 of the Criminal Code, which addresses traffic safety violations, with a full investigation into the circumstances of the crash underway.
