On July 16-23, 2019, the Uzbekistan government delegation headed by Foreign Minister Abdulaziz Kamilov will be in the U.S. to attend in a number of events and hold meetings aimed at developing bilateral trade, economic, financial and investment issues, the Foreign Ministry said.

The delegation reportedly includes the Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade Sardor Umurzakov and the head of the Capital Market Development Agency Otabek Nazirov, over 20 experts of Uzbektelecom, Uzpromstroybank, Infinbank, Toshkent Stock Exchange, Uzavtosanoat, Central Depository, Uzkimyosanoat, Asaka Bank, UZEX, and etc.

According to the Uzbek Embassy in Washington, the purpose of the visit is to negotiate with the leadership of several ministries and departments of the US administration, the World Bank Group, to establish contacts with large corporations and companies, hedge funds, investment banks and financial institutions, discussing the prospects for the participation of American business in Uzbekistans’s corporate privatization and modernization programs.

The delegation will hold a presentation of Uzbekistan’s investment potential for members of the administration and the U.S. Congress, experts from leading analytical centers, as well as representatives of American financial corporations, consulting and law firms.

The delegation is also scheduled to attend the panel discussion “Promoting stability and economic development through religious freedom”, held at the site of the International Union of Bilateral Chambers of Commerce and Industry in Washington.

Uzbekistan’s Capital Market Opportunities investment forum is planned In New York, which will allow forging close partnerships with investors, leading stock exchanges and U.S. regulators, and reaching agreements on specific bilateral projects.

The Uzbek delegation will also hold a number of bilateral meetings, talks with officials of the White House, the State Department, the Treasury and the Agency for International Development. As well as the members of the Congressional Uzbekistan Caucus, the Senate and the House of Representatives. The program of the visit to Washington includes talks with the management of the Financial Services Regulatory Service, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, as well as executives of the World Bank Group and experts from the International Finance Corporation.

The delegation will hold talks in New York with the management of the NYSE and NASDAQ, and attend the opening ceremony of exchange trading in the NYSE.

A number of deals are expected to be signed during the visit.
