Starting from January 1, 2020, Uzbekistan shall abolish the customs duty waiver for the import of cars worth over US$ 40 thousand, manufactured less than two years ago. This is provided for by the Oct. 2 presidential decree.
The waiver took effect in January 1, 2019 while only the excise tax of 20% applied to imported expensive cars. About 600 premium cars and 20 electric vehicles were imported in the first six months of this year.
