The price of Ai-92 gasoline on the Uzbekistan Republican Commodity and Raw Materials Exchange has reached an all-time high.

By the close of trading on June 29, the price of Ai-92 gasoline hit a record 13.919 million soums per ton. This marks a 1.1% increase from previous trading sessions. Since the beginning of June, fuel prices have surged by 1.473 million soums, representing a nearly 11.8% spike.

The bulk of this price hike occurred during the first half of the month. Notably, the price per ton jumped 10.5% in just four days—climbing from 12.476 million soums on June 4 to 13.788 million soums by June 8. While prices stabilized between 13.7 million and 13.8 million soums over the following two weeks, another surge on June 29 pushed the commodity to its historic peak.

This price rally coincided with a sharp contraction in fuel supply on the exchange. On June 1, available supply stood at 3,791 tons, but by June 23, that volume had plummeted by nearly half to 1,898 tons. Although supply rebounded to 3,123.2 tons on June 29, prices failed to cool down.

Spot further noted that this domestic price surge aligns with fuel shortages in Russia. These regional shortages are reportedly linked to unscheduled refinery maintenance following Ukrainian drone strikes.

Earlier, Russian government instituted a ban on gasoline exports starting April 1. While the export ban was expected to slow down rate hikes, experts previously noted it would unlikely trigger a sharp decline in prices.
