Large-scale project is underway to replace outdated water meters with smart, digitally connected devices across the city's residential areas in Tashkent, Uzbekistan. This initiative, spearheaded by Tashkent City Water Supply JSC, aims to improve drinking water control, monitoring, and management through digital technologies.
The project is part of an international collaboration with the French company SUEZ and will involve the installation of smart meters in over 670,000 households over the next five years, free of charge to residents.
The project will equip over 670,000 consumers in Tashkent with smart water meters. The installation costs will be covered by Tashkent City Water Supply JSC. The project is being implemented in collaboration with the French company SUEZ.
The project began with a pilot phase in the Shaykhontohur district. After the pilot phase, smart meters are being installed gradually across all districts. The smart meters offer improved data accuracy, remote data transmission, and online access to consumption information for both consumers and the utility company.
The project is planned for completion within five years. The installation process involves replacing existing meters with smart meters, with no welding or plumbing work. Residents are being asked to grant technicians access to their homes for meter installation.
Temporary coordination offices will be set up in neighborhoods to address resident questions and concerns.
