Cabinet of Ministers issued a resolution Wednesday dated March 18 aiming to expedite the transition to paperless government system, the Ministry of Justice said.
According to the resolution, by June 1, 2026, special containers for collecting used paper will be installed, and a system for transferring it to recycling facilities will be established.
Furthermore, each structural unit will deploy paper consumption limits based on the number of workers, workload, and actual needs.
Starting May 1, additional steps will take effect in government agencies. Specifically, when planning expenses for the next five years, costs for paper, ink, printers, and copying equipment will be reduced by 15% annually.
A centralized printer system will also be implemented: in open offices, there will be one printer for per 20 workers.
Furthermore, government agencies plan to hold a monthly Paperless Day environmental campaign.
President approved the Zero Government Bureaucracy - 2030 program in November 2025, effective January 1, 2026, aimed at digitally transforming governance and increasing its efficiency.
Furthermore, at an international forum on bureaucracy reduction, the head of state announced Uzbekistan's transition to a "paperless government" system, completely eliminating paperwork. Plans call for digitizing 25 million of the existing 40 million documents, with another 5 million to be completed within the next year.
