Uzbek border and customs services foiled an attempt to smuugle from Afghanistan of 72.3 kg of hashish disguised as potatoes, the State Security Service’s (DXX) press service said.

Reportedly, 222 potato-shaped packages were found during a check of the trailer of a truck driven by a 25-year-old resident of Termez district of Surkhandarya province.

According to preliminary reports, the cargo was intended for transport to Russia.

An investigation has been launched into the discovery of the drugs.
