Today, Uzatom and Rosatom signed a roadmap for long-term cooperation in the nuclear and related industries, as well as an addendum to the contract for an integrated nuclear power plant project.
The roadmap covers several areas: phases of NPP project, personnel training, public acceptance of nuclear energy, creation of infrastructure for future city of nuclear workers, and comprehensive development of the industry.
Simultaneously, a ceremony took place at the NPP construction site in Farish district of Jizzakh region for the first concrete pouring work as part of the construction of a small NPP power unit with a RITM-200N reactor.
Concrete preparation for the reactor building is currently underway. Completion of this phase is scheduled for April 2026. A total of approximately 900 cubic meters of concrete will be placed. Reportedly, following this work, the foundation for the reactor building, including waterproofing and grounding, will be prepared, according to the statement.
The addendum was also signed, approving the updated configuration of the plant:
- two power units with VVER-1000 generation 3+ reactors;
- two power units with RITM-200N reactors (55 MW each).
Once fully operational, the plant will produce approximately 15.4 billion kWh of power per year—more than 15% of Uzbekistan's total electricity consumption.
