Uzbekistan is exploring the possibility of opening an official international Barcelona football academy, known as the Barça Academy, the press service of the Ministry of Sports said.

The virtual negotiations were led by the Minister of Sports, Adham Ikramov. In the meeting were also present the First Vice-President of the Uzbekistan Football Association, Ravshan Irmatov, alongside a senior executive at FC Barcelona César Martínez, and the CEO of Barça Innovation Hub Albert Mundet.

The parties discussed launching the project to boost youth football development, train young players according to international standards, and introduce modern football methodologies to the country.

Special focus was placed on the Barça Academy's educational framework, the renowned "La Masia" training methodology, upgrading coaching qualifications, and scouting talented young players.

Central Asia’s first official Barça Academy opened its doors in Jalal-Abad, Kyrgyzstan, in 2023. Efforts are currently underway to establish a second regional academy in Bishkek.
