President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced that a new privatization program will put 1.3 thousand real estate properties, 8,000 hectares of land, and state shares in 66 enterprises on the market, with a total valuation of 100 trillion soums.
To support buyers, the upfront down payment required from entrepreneurs purchasing state assets will be slashed from 30% to 15%. Buyers will also be allowed to pay off the remaining balance in interest-free installments.
While noting that 3,000 state-owned assets worth 22 trillion soums are currently listed for auction, the head of state criticized regional governors (hokims) for their lack of a systematic approach to selling state property.
The President also drew specific attention to unsold assets sitting on bank balance sheets. According to his data, there are currently 2,411 such properties worth 9.3 trillion soums remaining unsold.
Official reports state that authorities will review whether keeping each of these assets on bank balance sheets is justified. For properties that have interested buyers but are being artificially withheld from sale, the rule of law will be strictly enforced.
Earlier, it was reported that interest charges on state assets previously sold through installment plans would be suspended.
