Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan will send 600 million cubic meters of water to Kazakhstan to handle the irrigation deficit in the south of the country, the 24.kg said.
According to Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Kanat Bozumbayev, the current situation with irrigation water in the south of Kazakhstan requires immediate intervention. The agreements reached earlier between the countries will ensure the necessary volume of water for agricultural needs.
The Kazakh authorities held the necessary negotiations with the officials of Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. Kanat Bozumbayev drew attention to the difficult climatic conditions in Central Asia in 2025, including low water levels, high summer temperatures and lack of precipitation. This has led to an increase in water consumption for crop production with a reduction in its flow.
