The new Tashkent international airport is planned to be built in Urtachirchik district of the Tashkent province on 1,200 hectares. This was announced on August 11 during the "Mayor Office Hour" by the province governor Zoyir Mirzayev.
According to him, a railway project is also planned that will connect the city of Bekabad, Bekabad district, Buka and Piskent districts, Nurafshan and Tashkent. The railway project is planned to begin in 2026.
"If the railway project through the city of Bekabad, Bekabad district, Buka and Piskent districts, Nurafshan to the city of Tashkent has already been added in the plan, started, designed and an directive has been given to start it next year, and the airport will be located on 1,200 hectares in the Urtachirchik district, then what else do you think the state should do?" he said, addressing civil servants, whom he had previously criticized for their lack of activity and initiative.
Earlier on August 1, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev familiarized himself with plans for the construction of a new airport for the Tashkent city in the Tashkent province. It will be commissioned by 2030. At the first stage, the air harbor will be able to serve up to 20 million passengers per year. Investors' proposals are currently being considered.

Postponing this process for 10 years will entail $8.6 billion in losses to the GDP. The opportunity to become the province's "aviation hub" will be lost," follows from the slide.
According to him, the new airport will be located 17 km south of the existing one.
"The selected land plot for the new international airport project is located 17 kilometers from the existing international airport in Tashkent city, south of the capital, near the existing highway connecting Tashkent with Samarkand, and on the route of the future Tashkent-Samarkand highway. That is, the construction of the new airport is planned in a place where there is transport and logistics infrastructure," the head of the Ministry of Transport said.
The Tashkent province governor’s office said that the final decision on the location of the airport had not yet been made.
In particular, the option with the city of Yangiyul was first considered, then with Akhangaran, and currently the option with the Urtachirchik district is being studied.
