Uzbekistan is bracing for a wave of hot weather during the final week of July, according to the national weather service, Uzhydromet.
Weather forecasts for July 27–31 indicate daytime temperatures will hover around 37–40°C (99–104°F) across most of the country. Meanwhile, the northern, southern, and desert regions will experience peaks of 41–42°C (106–108°F). Forecasters note that these temperatures run 2 to 3 degrees Celsius above the historical climate norm for late July.
Mostly clear skies and dry conditions will prevail nationwide throughout the week. However, the northern, southern, and desert areas may face wind speeds accelerating to 13–18 meters per second, potentially triggering localized dust storms.
In the capital city of Tashkent, skies will remain mostly sunny with no precipitation in sight. Expect daytime highs to fluctuate between 38–39°C (100–102°F), with nighttime lows offering a modest reprieve at 23–25°C (73–77°F).
