President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has extended his holiday greetings to the people of Uzbekistan today, on July 30, marking Friendship of Peoples Day. He emphasized that interethnic harmony, tolerance, and solidarity represent the nation's most invaluable assets.
The address noted that more than 130 nationalities and ethnic groups, alongside 12 religious confessions, live together harmoniously like one big family in Uzbekistan, making vital contributions to the country's development.
The president highlighted that recent years have seen the development of a unique model of interethnic harmony and tolerance, guided by the noble concept: "Our strength is in unity and solidarity." He underscored that 10 regulatory and legal frameworks passed in this sphere—most notably the State Policy Concept in the Field of Interethnic Relations—have reinforced the legal foundations of these ongoing reforms.
The message further detailed that Uzbekistan is home to 157 national cultural centers and 46 friendship societies. Education across the country is provided in seven languages, television and radio programs are broadcast in 12 languages, and newspapers and magazines are published in 14 languages.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev also placed special emphasis on the steady growth of friendship, mutual trust, and strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and its fellow Central Asian nations.
Additionally, the head of state announced plans to form "Do'stlik" (Friendship), a professional, multi-ethnic performance ensemble. He noted that this creative group will carve out a prominent place in the country's cultural life and serve to further cement friendship and unity among different peoples.
Concluding his address, the president once again congratulated all citizens on Friendship of Peoples Day, wishing them health, peace, domestic happiness, and great success in working toward the prosperity of the homeland.
