Three people in Tashkent have faced administrative charges following a confrontation with police officers in a local park in the Hastimam neighborhood.

According to the Tashkent Police Department (TPD), the incident involved a group of young people rollerblading in the park. Police officers ordered the group to stop, triggering a verbal altercation between the two sides. Because Uzbekistan’s legal code does not contain a specific offense for rollerblading, authorities instead filed charges of Petty hooliganism and Failure to comply with the lawful demands of a police officer.

Two young women involved in the dispute were fined. Meanwhile, a young man who was reportedly more confrontational during the argument was sentenced to 10 days of administrative detention. The TPD issued a statement clarifying that riding scooters, rollerblades, and skateboards is only permitted in designated areas, classifying them as extreme sports.
