Two people were killed when two pleasure boats collided on the Syr Darya River in the Turakurgan district of Namangan province, the province's Emergency Situations Department reported.
The incident occurred on the evening of August 23. Video footage from the scene circulated on social media. The clips show a boat stopped in the water near a bridge over the river as another vessel approaches it; a third boat then emerges from under the bridge and collides with them. Other footage shows people helping individuals in life jackets climb out of the water and back on board.
According to the Emergency Situations Department, one person died at the scene and another died in the hospital. Officials did not specify how many people were on board the boats involved in the collision.
